A new blog site as Tumblr has gone freakshow with my login details.
A lovely sunny day at Tawd Vale was the venue for the final GP of the winter series. As is tradition, this also coincides with the NWFTA Championships. A 50 shot course was laid out with the first 40 targets for the GP and the final 10 to be added for the Championship score.
I was still shooting Sporter FT as my Leupold is in America getting fixed (hopefully). My partner, Chris and I started on lane 11. I dinked the first one and then shot the second - A clean hit inside the killzone but the target stayed up! We deicded to let Chris shoot it and see what happened - Chris hit my mark and the same thing happened. We called a marshall who found the target to be sticking and replaced it. Chris and I contined and I appeared to be shooting quite well especially since I've put less than 100 shots through my EV2 with my borrowed 10 mag scope.
The tricky wind was catching a few people out including me as I gave a few outside the killzone that went straight. Some great targets had been laid out including a few high ones and the fantastic weather was really making it an enjoyable day. A sharp contrast to the very wet Byley.
We finally completed the course. Chris had missed a few with his springer but had hit some nice targets too. I finished on 70 for the main course and 15 for the extra targets. I knew I had a good chance of first place but still handed my cards in with a slight bit of apprenhension. Thankfully my score was enough and I won my first Sporter FT trophy! On the FT side, things were not so simple. A 5 way tie on 44/50 meant a shoot off between Dave and Paula Schofield, Dave Taylor, Rob O'Neil and Sam Barr.
Two targets were selected and every shooted had two keeling and two standing shots. After the kneelers, everyone had hit one and missed one. Dave Taylor loaded the pressure by then hitting both his standing shots. Rob and Dave S both got one but it wasn't quite enough and Dave Taylor took first place.

A big thanks to the course setters. The layout was great with lots of new placings and a good degree of difficulty. The Summer Series starts on April 5th at Stockport.
